As a rule, line U78 of the Rheinbahn local transport company travels at 5 minutes intervals to special events at the ESPRIT arena. Get off at stop 'ESPRIT arena/Messe-Nord'.

After the event, special Rheinbahn trains depart from this stop every 2.5 minutes.

Travelling time between Düsseldorf main station and the ESPRIT-arena station is approx. 15 minutes. The ticket price for many events includes public transport. For regular Rheinbahn timetable see below.

By car:

Düsseldorf is connected to the following motorways: Access from the north via A52 and A3, from the west via A44 and A57, from the south via A57 and A59. The international trade fair complex, Messe Düsseldorf, is adjacent to the ESPRIT arena. ESPRIT arena and Messe Düsseldorf are prominently signposted all over town. Since our address 'Arena-Straße' is relatively new and may not yet be recognized by all navigation systems, we recommend entering 'Flughafen Düsseldorf' (Düsseldorf airport). From motorway A44, take exit AS 29 Messe-Nord/Stadion or Messe-Nord/Arena, which leads directly to the ESPRIT arena.

Car parks:

Having entered the arena and trade fair complex, follow the signs to car park P1. The parking fee for concerts is normally 5 Euro, for Fortuna Düsseldorf games 3.50 Euro. A total of 22,000 parking spaces are available on site.

Connection to airport:

Düsseldorf International Airport (170 destinations worldwide) is only 3 km away. Depending on the traffic situation, the taxi ride from there to the ESPRIT arena takes approx 10-15 minutes and costs around 10 Euro.

The ESPRIT arena has a total of 27 boxes, almost all of which are permanently rented. In addition there are eight event boxes, some of which can be varied in size. Box sizes start at a minimum of approx. 30 square metres. All boxes have a glass front looking into the arena and accessible balconies with at least 12 seats.

C

Business-Club of the ESPRIT arena is the PLATINUM Club on the ESPRIT stands. The VIP package contains the admission ticket, a parking space in the ESPRIT arena underground car park and exclusive catering.

On the terrace in front of the Club are 1266 business seats, red upholstered leather seats with armrest. Attentive hostesses and friendly service personnel attend to the VIP guests of the PLATINUM Club.

There are 24 food kiosks in the area of the ESPRIT arena that is accessible to all spectators.

The outer panelling of the ESPRIT arena serves as 'Media Screen' projection surface made of aluminium profiles, especially suitable for advertising or live broadcasts from the arena.
By the way – the diameter of and distances between the aluminium profiles simulate a typical Düsseldorf Alt beer glass.

The famous singer from Bochum opened the ESPRIT arena in January 2005 with two sold-out concerts. Almost 100,000 spectators celebrated Grönemeyer at a mega concert with many new and old hits, not to forget numerous encores.

The ESPRIT arena’s state-of-the-art, unique heating system assures that with closed roof, temperatures in the stands are at least 15 degrees C even during the winter months.

This is achieved by air heating, gas burners and under floor heating. 100 fans move 900 000 cubic metres of air per hour. In all, the air conditioning and ventilation system of the ESPRIT arena is able to move 3 million cubic metres of air per hour.

This is why the ESPRIT arena can accommodate big events throughout the year, regardless of the weather - something no other arena in Germany is able to.

Many thousands of kilometres of electrical cable were installed in the ESPRIT arena, as well as 10 kilometres of heating pipelines.

All electrical parts have fireproof sheathings for safety.

The ESPRIT arena is illuminated by a total of 15,500 lamps. The floodlight system consists of a total of 188 floodlights of 1500-LUX capacity.

20 control rooms and a superordinate central computer monitor and control the whole technical system.

8,000 square metres of lawn were laid in the ESPRIT arena, delivered in jumbo rolls of 20 metres length, 1.20 metres width and 30 millimetres thickness from the Lower Rhine area, 20 truck loads in all.
The lawn was placed on a 42 cm layer of sand, lava and peat.

Die ESPRIT arena hat insgesamt 27 Logen, die bereits heute fast alle dauerhaft vermietet sind.

Zusätzlich stehen acht - zum Teil - größenvariable Eventlogen zur Verfügung.

Die Logen beginnen mit einer Größe von ca. 30 Quadratmetern und haben alle eine Glasfront zum Arena-Innenraum.

Jede Loge verfügt über einen begehbaren Logenbalkon mit mindestens 12 Sitzplätzen.

Apart from big concerts and mega sports events, the ESPRIT arena is also an ideal venue for fairs and small and medium events starting from 20,000 visitors.

For this purpose, the arena can be divided by means of a steel stand across the middle of the field.

The arena can also be utilized in transverse direction, with panorama setup, which makes it truly multifunctional.

Cans, bottles and other potential projectiles as well as weapons or pyrotechnical material are, without exception, banned from the arena.
In individual cases, event organizers renting the arena may impose additional bans such as cameras or camera phones during concerts. When the roof is closed, smoking is prohibited.

For better visitor orientation, the ESPRIT arena has a comprehensive guidance system.

In the exterior area, the stands are prominently signmarked. Large plans are displayed at regular intervals in the staircases.

Furthermore, the arena’s block identifications are prominently displayed both on the promenade and at the entrance to the interior area. Numbers of seat rows are indicated at the stairways and seat numbers on the chairs.

The panorama set-up ‚The panorama set-up enhances the attractiveness of the ESPRIT arena on the live-music market’, explains Jörg Mitze, manager of the ESPRIT arena. 'It is a fantastic opportunity to attract artists drawing between 20,000 and 38,000 spectators'.

The panorama set-up gives organizers the highest possible flexibility regarding the stage position, the ‚small’ version placing the front edge of the stage on the middle axis of the playing field, the ‚big’ version placing the rear edge of the stage directly in front of the Stadtsparkasse Düsseldorf stands on the eastern side of the ESPRIT arena.

The ESPRIT arena is handicapped friendly.

There are two access ramps for wheelchair users and other persons with walking disabilities.

In addition, the ESPRIT arena has public elevators and handicapped-friendly toilets.

Stage

Front stage

For concerts with front-stage setup, the stage is located in front of the Warsteiner stands in the northern part of the ESPRIT arena. Maximum capacity with this constellation is more than 50,000 spectators.

The ESPRIT arena has more than 51,500 seats and can accommodate 66,500 spectators for concerts, including the interior area. The VIP area in the ESPRIT arena is located on the ESPRIT stands, with access directly from the VIP check-in. There the entry tickets are validated and visitors are given VIP armbands identifying them as VIP guests for the duration of the event. From the check-in, our guests reach the boxes (see B like Boxes) and the PLATINUM Club (see C like Club) by elevators or via the staircases.

Charming, attentive hostesses and friendly, competent service personnel attend to the VIP area. A wide culinary choice is available for our VIP guests.
